Plant-based protein snacks are impossible for me to predict.

On one hand, we have protein bars like Misfit protein bars that end up being very disappointing despite looking incredible.

On the other hand, we have bars like Lenny & Larry’s that I fully expect to hate but end up loving.

Where does No Cow fall? We’re about to find out.

I’ve tried No Cow bars in the past, and while I don’t have an official review for them, I found them to be pretty middle-of-the-road. They tend to be a bit dry & Earthy, but they’re not awful.

However, I had never tried No Cow’s Dipped protein bar line, so that’s what we’re going to dive into today.

No Cow Dipped Bar Nutrition

You typically don’t see a plant-based protein bar containing 20 grams of protein, so that is really exciting to see.

Most plant-based protein bars like Barebells or Misfits end up having around 15 grams of protein, so that extra protein is a welcomed addition.

I don’t get excited seeing that much fiber, but for anyone on a low-carb diet, these bars will fit right into your diet. Plant-based and keto-friendly are tough to put together into a single product, but No Cow has accomplished that.

I tried both the birthday cake and peanut butter cup bars for this review, so let’s get into it.

Peanut Butter Cup No Cow Dipped Bar

When I opened up this dipped bar, I immediately assumed I had gotten an expired bar based on how much it seemed to be falling apart.

Rest assured, I was many months away from the expiration date, so this is just the bar I was dealt.

I broke the bar in half hoping that the exterior would just be a fluke and the interior would be nice and soft, but that wasn’t exactly the case.

No Cow Peanut Butter Cup Dipped Bars

As you can likely tell from the photo above, this protein bar was incredibly dry & chalky.

The “dipped” nature of this bar did not add anything positive to the experience since it was all just falling apart, and the peanut butter interior did not help at all, either.

The flavor of the bar is definitely peanut butter, but extremely dry peanut butter.

Like most plant-based bars, there is a distinct Earthy flavor to these bars from the pea protein, but it’s surprisingly not super unpleasant.

I’d describe the flavor of this protein bar as average, but the dry & chalky nature really knock it down a few pegs.

Birthday Cake No Cow Dipped Bar

The birthday cake bar was not falling apart the same way the peanut butter cup bar was, so I’m hoping that bar was an exception and not the norm.

The birthday cake dipped bar was definitely less chalky, but still extremely dense & chewy.

The chewiness is not quite like a Quest Bar, but rather like eating a spoonful of peanut butter with pea protein powder mixed into it.

The denseness of the bar, combined with the chewiness, turned this bar into a real workout.

Compared to the peanut butter cup bar, the white chocolate coating on this bar was actually very pleasant. It’s nice and soft and actually helps to elevate the flavor a bit.

You can absolutely tell this is a birthday cake protein bar, so the flavor itself is quite accurate, but there are still better plant-based options out there.

Overall Thoughts: No Cow Dipped Protein Bars

No Cow Dipped Bars

These No Cow protein bars are simply too dry for me to enjoy. The peanut butter cup bar was extremely dry & chalky, and the birthday cake flavor was dense and very chewy.

Which bar is a truer reflection of No Cow bars as a whole? I’m not sure.

In either case, I don’t love the texture of the bars, so I would opt for other plant-based protein bars ahead of these.

In terms of flavor, these protein bars are decent, but nothing that excites me. I’d consider these bars pretty comparable to Misfits protein bars in terms of flavor, so if you enjoy those, you may be into these No Cow bars as well.

Summary
No Cow bars look and sound great, but they are incredibly dry & chalky. While a dry bar is to be somewhat expected when it comes to plant-based protein, there are far better options out there.
