Quest Candy Bars

There’s truly no company more innovative than Quest in the protein space. I’ve reviewed their Cheese Crackers, Peanut Butter Cups, and Frosted Cookies, and I’ve been pretty impressed with them all.

Say what you will about Quest protein bars, but when they first hit the market, they were unlike anything else out there.

Now, Quest has candy bars and candy bites, which I was super excited to try.

Quest offers two options: candy bites and candy bars. The candy bars are roughly the size of a typical candy bar or protein bar, and the candy bites are a little bit smaller than half of a bar.

Looking at the nutrition facts, it’s clear that Quest is more focused on being keto-friendly than high-protein for this Quest candy.

Quest candy nutrition

A full-sized Quest candy bar contains 210 calories with only 12 grams of protein, which is not overly impressive as a protein snack.

Granted, it’s still significantly higher in protein than your average candy bar, but if you’re looking for a protein snack, you’d like to see more protein.

But, if you just need a quick bite of something sweet, the candy bites are not all that bad nutritionally speaking. With 80 calories and 5 grams of protein, you can enjoy 2 candy bites for 160 calories and 10 grams of protein.

It’s not as impressive as a protein bar, but it’s very much on par with the Quest peanut butter cups.

Quest Fudgey Brownie Candy Bites Review

Quest Fudge Brownie Bites

First up, we have the fudgy brownie bites.

Just looking at the photo, you can tell that the gooey caramel inside of these bars is very impressive. Pair that with the brownie interior and pieces of almond, and this truly looks like a candy bar.

While it looks like a soft brownie, these are actually pretty dense and chewy. They’re certainly not as chewy as a typical Quest protein bar, but they’re denser than a soft candy bar.

This particular flavor tastes like a pretty standard chocolate protein bar with nuts and caramel, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but I wouldn’t mistake it for a candy bar.

As a brownie lover, I find the flavor to just resemble regular chocolate rather than something more distinct like brownies.

If you want a protein bar that eats like a candy bar versus the standard Quest bars, this definitely fits the bill, especially if you’re on a keto diet.

Otherwise, this won’t replace a candy bar in your diet, but it’s a decent option.

Quest Gooey Caramel Candy Bar Review

Quest gooey caramel candy bar

If my review had stopped with the fudgey brownie bites, I wouldn’t have been too impressed. Luckily for me, I also tried the gooey caramel.

If you want a healthy bar that actually tastes like a candy bar, this is it.

Yes, you can absolutely tell this is not a regular candy bar. It’s still a bit denser than a candy bar, and it has that “protein bar” flavor to it. However, it still tastes really good.

It very much reminds me of a Snickers bar, and eating it definitely resembles a candy bar. If you’re low-carb and missing candy, you’re going to love these bars.

In fact, this bar is what the Snickers Hi Protein bar SHOULD be.

I do wish there was more protein in this bar, but I really like it nonetheless.

Quest Coconutty Caramel Candy Bar Review

The newest addition to the lineup also might be the most delicious. I tried these with low expectations because I’m not a huge coconut fan but man, these are delicious.

The coconut nougat interior reminds me of the soft interior of an Almond Joy or Mounds Bar, but not as prominent of a coconut flavor,

To me, the coconut flavor is as prominent as it is in Samoa Girl Scout Cookies. You can definitely taste it, but it isn’t overpowering- that’s a huge bonus for me.

The rest of the bar is very similar to the others, with caramel inside and a dark chocolate coating wrapping it all up, but it all combines together to create a really delicious bar.

While I wish these were higher in protein, that would also lead to a less impressive flavor overall, so I’m okay with it.

Quest Candy: Overall Thoughts

Holding quest candy

You won’t mistake these bars for actual candy bars, but they’re great for what they are.

As someone who doesn’t need to eat low-carb or low-sugar, I still find these bars really enjoyable.

The major downside to these bars is that they’re not as high in protein as a typical protein bar, but it’s still enough to make me enjoy these as a protein snack.

Plus, sometimes you just want a small snack to satisfy your sweet tooth, and the 80-calorie bites are perfect for that.

After this review, I purchased some more of the gooey caramel bites to keep in my pantry as a snack when I need something sweet, so that should tell you a thing or two about how I feel about these!

Summary
These Quest candy bites are definitely very candy-like compared to most protein bars out there. While you'd never mistake these for actual candy bars, they are damn good for a higher-protein and low-sugar version.
